Anne Bowman 130

Anne is a Sydney born illustrator/artist living in the Blue Mountains with her husband and two children. Anne's predominant artistic interest is in Natural History illustration. A B.Sc. majoring in Zoology from Sydney University and a B.A majoring in illustration from UWS Nepean have allowed her to combine art and science.

Her predominant medium is watercolour, although she also enjoys the three dimensional challenge of paper sculpture. Her attention to fine detail and small sculptural work was utilized in her work as a biological model maker with the Australian Museum in Sydney. She has illustrated for Australian Geographic, Weldon Owen Publishing, National Parks & Wildlife, Parenting Magazine, ANH Magazine, ABC Books and The School Magazine as well as many other educational publications.

Anne has written and illustrated a book on endangered wildlife, ‘Count Them While You Can’, which was listed as an Eve Pownall Notable Book for 2011 and short-listed for the 2011 Wilderness Society Environmental Award for Children’s Literature. Anne has cared for a variety orphaned and injured wildlife, particularly kangaroos and wallabies. This hands-on experience has given her a deep appreciation of the amazing qualities of our fauna as well as providing invaluable help to her as a wildlife illustrator.
